An IP address is a unique string of numbers that identifies each computer that is using Internet Protocol to communicate with a network.
IP addresses are unique, just like phone numbers. It allows us to see who we’re sending information to and who we’re receiving it from. They also provide information about a user’s physical location.
Finding your IP address is easy and can be beneficial when it comes to troubleshooting. To find your IP address, complete the following steps:
- Press the Windows Key + R – this opens the Run dialog box.
- Type CMD and hit enter – this will open the command prompt.
- Type ipconfig in the default prompt area and hit enter
Following these steps will provide you with your basic IP address information.
