Here&#8217;s what to do next"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Generally, it seems like you discover your printer isn\u2019t working correctly when it\u2019s time to print an important document. In most cases, though, printer issues can be resolved quickly.<\/p>\n<p>First, make sure your printer is plugged in and turned on. If your printer is wired, meaning it plugs into your computer directly with a cord and USB, ensure it\u2019s connected. If your printer is wireless, do one of the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Make sure the wireless option is turned on and available. There is often a wireless icon that appears on the printer when the wireless connection option is available.<\/li>\n<li>Run a connectivity test. Check the instructions that came with your printer or the manufacturer\u2019s website.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You can also download the printing troubleshooter from support.microsoft.com. Using the troubleshooter can fix problems that occur when connecting or installing a printer.<\/p>\n<p>If the troubleshooter isn\u2019t helpful, your printer\u2019s drivers may need to be updated. Most printers require software to work and occasionally that software needs an update to work properly with your operating system. Drivers can also become damaged due to power outages, viruses or other issues.<\/p>\n<p>According to Microsoft, there are three ways to get the latest driver.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Use Windows Update.<\/strong>\u00a0Windows Update might have an updated version of your printer driver. To update your drivers using Windows Update follow these steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Press and hold (or right-click) the\u00a0<strong>Start<\/strong>\u00a0button, then select<strong>\u00a0Device Manager<\/strong>. If it is present, select it, and then select\u00a0<\/span><strong style=\"color: #2b2b2b; font-size: 16px;\">Remove device<\/strong><span style=\"color: #2b2b2b; font-size: 16px;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>In the search box on the taskbar, type\u00a0<strong style=\"color: #2b2b2b; font-size: 16px;\">Print Management<\/strong><span style=\"color: #2b2b2b; font-size: 16px;\">, then select the search result of the same name.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Select<strong style=\"color: #2b2b2b; font-size: 16px;\">\u00a0All Printers<\/strong><span style=\"color: #2b2b2b; font-size: 16px;\">, find your printer in the list, press and hold (or right-click it), and then select\u00a0<\/span><strong style=\"color: #2b2b2b; font-size: 16px;\">Delete<\/strong><span style=\"color: #2b2b2b; font-size: 16px;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Restart your PC.<\/li>\n<li>Reconnect your printer&#8217;s cable to your PC\u00a0and try installing the software and driver again.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>If your printer still doesn\u2019t work, it may be time to restart the printer\u2019s spooler service. The print spooler is a file that manages the printing process.
