Google will soon let you know every time you log onto a site that isn\u2019t secure. In February, Google announced a new initiative that is aimed to protect users who utilize the Chrome browser.<\/p>\n

Some websites are considered \u201cnot secure\u201d by Google because they are not utilizing an SSL certificate, which is a form of security meant to protect both the website and the user. Websites that utilize a certificate are prefaced with HTTPS:\/\/ instead of HTTP:\/\/<\/a>.<\/p>\n

After the February announcement, the company started to gradually label HTTP sites as \u201cnot secure,\u201d and by July 2018 all sites not using an SSL certificate will be labeled \u201cnot secure.\u201d The image above is an example of what a “not secure” message will look like.<\/p>\n

The company said it hopes the change will help with the push for a more secure internet.<\/p>\n
